Albert W. Hudson, passed away peacefully on Sept. 17, 2016, in Dickson,. TN at the age of 93. He was born in Sharon, TN on January 5, 1923 to the late Albert W. and Georgia Moore Hudson. He was preceded in death by his siblings James Daniel Hudson and Joy Hudson Lane. He is survived by Gerald M. Hudson, daughters Karyn Hudson Brown (Bill) of Dickson, TN, and Pat Hudson(Bullets Gillespie) of Nashville, TN. Granchildren Todd Brown (Margaret) of Fairview, TN, Angela Frazier (Al) of Brentwood, TN, Great grandchildren Caden Brown, Will Brown, Abby Frazier, Anna Frazier, and several nephews, cousins and friends. A graduate of Dresden High School, he left the family farm to work at the CCC camp at Pickwick Lake. This training led to an apprenticeship on the Great Lakes, launching his love of ships and the sea. When WW II began he enlisted in the US Maritime Service sailing the globe, serving in the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters attaining the rank of Ensign. After WWII he began his 25 year engineering career with Brown Shoe Company in St. Louis, MO, where he coordinated construction for 8 factories throughout West, TN and Missouri. In 1976 he became part of Browns Shoe international team where he traveled to Montevideo, Uruguay to pursue a new factory construction project. In retirement, he was ready for something new, so he joined the CDS in Martin, TN serving for many years maintaining the residential services. Known as Mr. Al he cherished this time in his life. Al never lost his love for West Tennessee specifically Kentucky Lake, Reelfoot Lake, and Obion Bottom where he spent many days fishing and hunting with family and friends. He was an avid crossword puzzle worker and music lover, especially big band and Dixie Land Jazz and was also known to fry some pretty darn good catfish. Always having a love for travel, there were many trips with his beloved daughters and their families. Whether it was a Nascar race of football game, Al was ready to go. A masonic funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM inside Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, Oct. 15,2016. A celebration of life service was held at 12:00 noon inside Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Mark Earheart officiated the service. Interment followed the service at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden, TN. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations be made to the American Legion Post 94 8288 Hwy. 22 Dresden, TN 38225
