Ammons Lewis Darnell, 97, of Dresden, TN died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the Weakley County Rehab & Nursing Center. Funeral services for Mr. Darnell were held Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 10:00 am at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden, TN

Mr. Darnell was born March 4, 1918 in Dresden, TN to the late Samuel Edgar and Cora Etta Jolley Darnell. He was a farmer, factory worker and DHS Farm Maintenance employee. Mr. Darnell was a member of the Dresden Church of Christ and US World War II Army Veteran. He married Bonnie Brockwell of Dresden, who survives, on September 7, 1946. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila Hellwege and a son, Hobart Luke Darnell, sisters; Evelyn Murray, Hazel Taylor and Mae Malone and brothers, Herbert Darnell and John Perkins.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Samuel K. (Gail) Darnell of Dresden, daughter, Cinda (Jerry) Reddick of Dresden, son in law, Don (Sue) Hellwege, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
