Charlie Culver, age 85, of Dresden passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at home on
the farm where he was born.  Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, at Bowlin Funeral
Home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Visitation will resume on Friday, April 5, at Bowlin Funeral
Home from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm, with burial to follow at Sunset
Cemetery.
Charlie was born April 23, 1938, in Dresden, Tennessee. In 1956, he graduated from
Dresden High School where he was active in athletics and was a FFA Star Farmer. In
1964, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from The University of
Tennessee in Martin where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity. He
was a member of the church of Christ. From 1979 to 1994, Charlie served as Weakley
County Commissioner and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Weakley
County Municipal Electric System.
Charlie worked in fertilizer sales and as a farm loan officer for the Production Credit
Association. Charlie’s passion was farming. He possessed outstanding farming skills
and always wanted to leave the land in better shape than he found it. He definitely
succeeded in doing that. Charlie began his farming career with the Culver Family Farm
and expanded it for over six decades. He also owned and operated a land construction
business, Culver Farms LLC.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Annie Bell Elinor Culver, his
sister, Genella Culver Forrester, and his brother, Bill Culver.  He is survived by his wife
of 63 years, Judy Nowlin Culver; their children, Mitchell (Angie) Culver and Melissa
(Buddy) Johnson; their grandchildren, Brandon (Ashley) Culver, Jordan (Lacy) Yeley,
Christopher Culver, and Julie Johnson; as well as six great-grandchildren.  He is also
survived by his two brothers, David (Ruth) Culver and Jimmy (Nancy) Culver.
Active pallbearers are Buddy Johnson, Charlie Reynolds, James Yarbro, Jason Yarbro,
Kerry Arnold, and Joseph Brisolara. Honorary pallbearers are Dylan Reynolds, Jackie
Green, Addison Yarbro, Caleb Yarbro, Joe Crawford, Jimmy Westbrook, Johnny
Vincent, Randy Morgan, Kenneth Wright, and Rance Culver.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Charlie’s name may be directed to Henry County Medical
Center Hospice, 311 East Wood Street, Paris, TN 38242.
