Ms. Essary was born December 23, 1927 to the late Jesse and Eva Whitmore of Jackson, TN. She married Joe Neal Essary in 1949 and moved to Martin and there they began their lives on a farm. Joe Neal preceded her in death in 1985. She is survived by daughters Wanda (Terry) Griffin of Martin and Julie (Mike) Roberts of Gleason, Grandsons Micky and Matthew Griffin and Lawson Roberts. She also leaves a sister Sarah Case of Jackson, sister-in-law Betty Essary of Dresden and Shirley Whitmore of Martin and many nieces and nephews. She was the oldest of 5 children. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters; Helen Alexander, Frankie Turner and brother Earl Whitmore.
Mrs. Essary retired from UTM after 19 years of dedicated service. She loved her work at UTM and worked as housekeeper/aid for (4) UTM Chancellor families during her tenure there. She was a hard working lady and sat with the sick and elderly friends until she was 80+ years old. She was happiest when she was doing things for her daughters and their families. We will forever miss our Christian Mom. Our lives are forever changed. As God’s Word says in Proverbs, “She was A Virtuous Woman.
