Funeral services for Daniel Elbert Crofford of Dresden were held at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden on Tuesday, April 4th. William Norrid and Danny Lamb officiated the service.
Dan was born January 19, 1930 to the late Thomas Hilary and Hazel Alaine (Maxey) Crofford. He had two brothers who preceded him in death--Ralph Lynn and Douglas. Dan was a life-long farmer who loved working land that has been in the family over 100 years . He served as Weakly County Trustee from 1966-1978 and in the Tennessee National Guard for twenty years. He was an active Lions Club member in his younger years.
Dan retired from the BancorpSouth Board of Directors in 2010. He loved his family and church family equally, and attended Lebanon Church of Christ, serving as Deacon and Treasurer. Dan loved each and every member of the congregation, a close-knit group all so generous and thoughtful. Dear friends Jerry Kelley and Clarence Collins also supported Dan through the years.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Mildred Ann (Taylor) Crofford, and daughters Danna (Stan) Kelley of Alpharetta, GA and Amy (Sam) Hargrove of Ringgold, GA. Grandchildren Nathaniel Crofford Hargrove and Taylor Glasgow Kelley will always remember rides with Daddy Dan on his four wheeler to check on the cows.
