On the early morning of July 24, 2024, Danny Mansfield Holland of Martin, Tennessee, formerly of Dresden, passed to his heavenly home at the age of 75.

Danny was born on March 13th,1949 in Salem, Missouri, and was the son of the late Frank Holland and Eula “Ruth” McClure, and his step-father, Noel “Doug” McClure. Danny was a veteran, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a dedicated sports fan. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend who will truly be missed.

He proudly served his country for 42 years in the United States Army National Guard and retired as Master Sergeant. He served under the 1174th and 1171st Transportation Units, in Operation Desert Shield/Storm (1991) and again in Iraqi Freedom (2003). He received awards for his Meritorious service. Danny retired from Goodyear Tire in Union City (2011).

For those who knew Danny, major league baseball was a huge part of his life. He certainly loved sitting in a large stadium eating peanuts and cheering on his team while enjoying a great baseball game! But he didn’t only love the MLB, you could always find Danny enjoying his favorite sports teams like the St. Louis Cardinals or the University of Tennessee Volunteers, as well as the UTM Lady Skyhawks. His love of baseball took him all over the country visiting different teams and their stadiums. He was able to visit 18 MLB stadiums over the years.

Danny had many special friends whom he enjoyed having breakfast with on a daily basis at Kountry Korner. He was also a member of New Home Baptist Church in Martin.

He was preceded by death by his parents, and brother, Glenn Wayne McClure. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sandy Holland; daughters Angie (Stephen) Lewis of Franklin, TN, Heather (Erik) Singer of High Point, NC, Ashley (Eric) Phillips of Nashville, TN and step-daughters, Susan McKee of Lexington, TN, Kimberly (Danny Ray) Smith of Sherman, MS and grandchildren Sara Katelyn Lewis, Hunter Lewis, Sophia Singer, Cooper Singer, and Holland Phillips and step-granddaughters, Anna Cathryn Montgomery and Maria Smith, step-grandson, Kirby Smith and nephew, Craig McClure.

Visitation will be Monday, July 29, 2024 beginning at 8:00am at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden, TN. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am with Brother Randy Potts of New Home Baptist Church officiating. Danny will be buried at the Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parkers Crossroads in Wildersville, TN, at 1:30pm.
