Listen to Obituary

Gene Brandon Gallimore passed away peacefully in the early morning hours at his residence on Sept, 25th, 2020, at the age of 84. He was born October 22, 1935, in Weakley County to the late Mrs. Jewell Gallimore and the late Brooksie Gallimore. Along with his brother Gerald Gallimore (deceased), they helped their mother work in the field. They also had many fun times together like going to the show in Martin, and staying all day for one price. Gene attended Martin High School, and then enlisted in the Army. He was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska for 2 years. After being discharged, he jumped on a bus and headed back to Weakley County to ask his sweetheart Joyce A. Sadler (now deceased) to marry him. They were married June 30th, 1962. Gene and Joyce were married 49 years with one son Brent Shaw (deceased) , two daughters Mylinda (Andrew) Pritchett of Dresden, and Stephanie Pearson of Martin. As life went by, over the years Gene worked at Reelfoot Packing Co, Linen Co., and Miller (Hubbell) Lighting Company where he retired in 1997. As a hobby, he became an auctioneer in the early 80's; he entertained the crowd with his chant, humor, and honesty. Gene always loved going to yard sales, and auctions, because you never knew what you might find, even if you didn't need it. He was our fixer upper when things were broken, you took it to him, because Papa could make it work again. He used to sit out in front of the garage tinkering with motors, lawn mowers, tractors, and repairing furniture at night. His girls always felt safe in the house, because he was their guard. Gene loved to tease, play jokes, and kid around with his family and friends. Gene loved reading from his collection of over 600 books, gardening, talking to people, playing with his cats, and most of all spending time with his grandchildren Kailee Pritchett of Bahrain, and Carolina pritchett of Dresden. In addition to his daughters and granddaughters, Gene leaves behind his brothers-laws Teddy Sadler of Martin, and Freddy Sadler of Dresden, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and really great friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 27, 2020, at Bowlin Funeral Home at 2:00 pm, with burial to follow in Eastside Cemetery in Martin. Visitation will be Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the funeral home from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm, and on Sunday from 12 noon until service time at 2:00 pm.
