George Woodrow Castleman Jr. “Papa” of Dresden, TN, passed surrounded by his loving family
in Nashville, TN on March 9th, 2025. A man of unwavering strength and devotion, George
leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and wonderful memories.
George was born on Thursday, August 8, 1963, in Fulton, Kentucky to Woody and Adell
Castleman. He was raised on the values of hard work, resilience, and perseverance. He married
Barbara Barker on April, 30th 1995 and they shared a beautiful 29 years of love, partnership,
and family.
George's final work of life was with the employees of MTD in Martin, TN. Although George
worked hard at MTD for 27 years, his true passion was tinkering with his collection of
International Harvester tractors. Every day he could be found in his shop or “boom boom room”
fixing, riding, or just admiring his large collection. These machines were more than a hobby;
they were a reflection of his passion for craftsmanship and nostalgia for simpler times.
His greatest joys in life consisted of sitting with his weenie dogs, camping with his wife, and
teaching his grandchildren something new. George made sure each grandchild understood the
value of hard work, teaching them life lessons not just through words, but through his actions.
His presence was a steady rock in the lives of those he loved.
George was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Martin, TN, where he gave his heart
to the Lord. His faith guided him in all he did, providing comfort to those who now grieve his
passing.
He is survived by his loving son Corey Castleman (Johnna) of Dresden, TN; three loving
daughters Debra Potts (Christy) of Martin, TN, Kathryn Hensley (Jason) of Cleveland, TN and
DeEtt Dennis of Martin, TN; his eight beautiful grandchildren Natalie Ball, Abi Grace Randolph,
Max Randolph, Bella Dennis, Cooper Potts-Web, ZacCorey Castleman, Kitai Dennis, and Carter
Potts; his two sisters Penny Johanson (Keith) of Dresden, TN, and Roxanne Pate of Dresden,
TN; many nieces and nephews; and his four-legged best friend Oscar Castleman.
George was preceded in death by his mother and father Woody and Adell Castleman; loving
wife Barabara Castleman; Daughter LouAnn Castleman; and granddaughter Morgan Faye
McMinn.
The family will be accepting friends Wednesday March 12, 2025 at 4p at Bowlin Funeral Home
in Dresden, TN. A celebration of life will be held on March 13, 2025 at 11a at Bowlin Funeral
Home with a burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery with Pallbearers Trent Adams, Mike Beal, Chris Hawks, Trey Johns,
John Mitchel, and Scott Walker; and Honorary Pallbearers Max Randolph, Cooper Potts-Web,
ZacCorey Castlemen, Kitai Dennis, and Carter Potts.
George’s story will be told in the laughter of his grandchildren, by the hum of an old tractor
engine, and through the love he shared for his family. Though he is no longer with us, his
memory will forever be woven into the fabric of the family he cherished.
