Glenda Sidney Kennedy, a dedicated educator and beloved family matriarch, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. She was born on September 10, 1941, in Dresden, Tennessee. Glenda's life was marked by her passion for teaching and her unwavering commitment to her family.
After earning her bachelor's degree in education, Glenda devoted her career to shaping young minds within the Milan Special School District, where she retired after many years of service. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, as she inspired countless students to pursue their dreams and strive for success.
Glenda is survived by her cherished son, Carroll R. "Randy" Kennedy of Jackson, TN, and her loving daughter, Sidney Elizabeth "Beth" (Michael) Walker of Milan, TN. She was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren: Hunter Mason Kennedy and John Morgan Kennedy, both of Jackson, TN, and Landon Ross Walker of Nashville, TN, and Emily Grace Walker of Milan, TN. The bond she shared with her grandchildren was filled with joy, laughter, and countless memories that will forever be treasured.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents, Emerson Sidney Harris and Alva Josephine Clement Harris Robinson, and her brother, Dr. Joe C. Harris. Their legacies live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
A memorial service to honor Glenda's life will be announced at a later date, providing an opportunity for friends and family to come together in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her compassion, strength, and the love she gave so freely to everyone around her.
