James Darryl (JD) Poiner, Sr, of Ripley TN, died Thursday, June 25th, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis. Per JD's request, he was cremated. A military graveside service will be conducted on Friday, October 16th, 2020 at 10:30 am in Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery at Parker's Crossroads with Bro Havel Baker officiating. The family requests anyone going in procession to the cemetery meet at Bowlin Funeral Home by 9am.
JD was born in Newbern, TN to the late James and Bessie (Dew) Poiner. He served 3 years in the Army and 24 years in the TN Army National Guard, retiring as a 1SG. His passion was working his garden and repairing tractors and small engines. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Poiner; and two sisters, Peggy Morris and Glenda Tatum.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Poiner of Ripley; son, James Darryl (Andi) Poiner, Jr. of Martin, TN; two daughters, Carol Jean Oliver of Indianola, MS and Margaret Ann Boswell of Dresden, TN; three sisters, Carol (Bob) Ciuffoletti of Kennett, MO, Linda (Larry) Bugg of Martin, TN and Pat (Harvey) Baker of Martin, TN; three granddaughters; one grandson; and one great granddaughter.
