Jeaneane (Jean) Ann Leiting passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the age of 89. Beloved life partner of Wilbur Brewer; cherished daughter of the late Herman and Catherine Leiting; devoted mother of Daniel Nasby, Douglas Nasby (Mildred), and Debra O’Neal (Kevin); proud grandmother of Natasha O’Neal, Kevin O’Neal, and Courtney Nasby (Zach); dear sister of Rose Winker (Kenneth), Father Robert Leiting, Laurete McGhehee (Bill), Marilyn Kramer (William), Glen Leiting (Michelle), Eileen Sporer (Thomas), Annette Quinlan, Bruce Leiting, and Joan Hillhouse (Hank). Jean grew up on the family farm in Arcadia, Iowa, with her nine siblings. She loved that farm and her family. After high school, she attended St. Anthony’s School of Nursing from 1954–1957 and always said she would never have graduated if it wasn’t for her dad. She spent more than 30 years in nursing and absolutely loved taking care of her patients. She married the late Leroy Nasby on July 11, 1959, and they had three children. They settled in St. Charles, Missouri, where Jean worked as a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital. She never learned to drive until after she and Leroy divorced in 1980. Jean learned how to do everything herself and didn’t let anything get in her way. Once Jean accomplished being on her own, she decided to join a group called Selective Singles. This was one of the best decisions she ever made, because this is how she met Mr. Wilbur Brewer. Jean & Wilbur met up at a Shoney’s restaurant for breakfast one morning after she worked the night shift at the hospital, and the rest is history. After retirement, they moved to Dresden, Tennessee, near where Wilbur grew up, and they built their life. She enjoyed attending St. Jude Catholic Church every Sunday for several years until she wasn’t able to physically attend. Jean would always stop at the nearby Walmart after church to pick up a book and whatever else caught her eye. She enjoyed those Sundays very much. Jean and Wilbur also enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels and being a part of the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Catherine Leiting; her siblings Father Robert Leiting, Marilyn Kramer, and Bruce Leiting; her brothers-in-law, Ken Winker, Bill Kramer, Dave Quinlan, Tom Sporer, and Bill McGehee; her former husband, Leroy Nasby; and her daughter-in-law Mildred Nasby. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Bowlin Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Jude Catholic Church or a dementia foundation of your choice in Jean’s memory.
