John Larry Pettit

John Larry Pettit, 65, of Dresden died Friday, August 29, 2014 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral services were Monday, September 1, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in New Hope Cemetery near Latham.

Mr. Pettit was born April 23, 1949 in Martin, TN to the late Charlie Bernis and Helen Harris Pettit. He was a retired tire sorter for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and a member of Adams Chapel Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Moten Pettit of Dresden, daughters; Melanie (Mark) Hazlewood of Martin and Tina (Ryan) Arnold of Gleason, sons; Johnny Pettit of Dresden and Tommy (Amy) Pettit of Buchanan, TN, brothers; Charles (Linda) Pettit, Donald (Sonya) Pettit, Jim (Peggy) Pettit and Bob Pettit all of Dresden, sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his mother in law, Velma Moten of Henderson, TN, stepson, Alan McCorkle of Enville, TN and stepdaughter, Jackie Williams of Lexington, TN. In lieu of flowers donations may be made directly to Hazel Pettit or the University of Tennessee Martin Rodeo Fund.
