Joseph Glynn Parker passed away at his home on Saturday November 16, 2024, at the age of 85.
Glynn was born August 21, 1939, in Dresden, TN. He was the first born of four children to Paul and Mozella Ferrell Parker. Glynn graduated from Dresden High School in 1957 and spent his youth working at Citgo Service Station, being a proud member of the FFA and an offensive lineman for the mighty Lions. His free time was spent courting the love of his life, Grace Mayo to which he married on June 14, 1959, and later became the proud father of two children.
Glynn’s strong work ethic led to a career with General Telephone Electric (GTE) where he retired following 25 years of service. He was a member of the Dresden Elks Lodge B.P.O.E 2373 for 50 years, where he served as the secretary for 20 years. After retirement, he enjoyed fishing, caring for his horses, playing with his grandchildren and due to his great attention to detail, became highly respected and sought after for his cleaning services. If you had no pets, you made the top of his list!
Glynn was a member of the Church of Christ and is survived by his wife of 65 years, Grace (Mayo) Parker, his daughters, Meribeth (Gary) Ihnen and Maggi Parker; his grandchildren, Luke Ihnen, Hayley Ihnen, Courtlyn (Zack) Martin and Caleb Pettit; his sister Connie (Jerry) Cheatham and his brother Terry (Carol) Parker; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Mozella Parker, and his sister Paula Adams.
