Kenneth Ray Lovelace of Martin, Tennessee, passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 89. Visitation will be held at Bowlin Funeral Home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, beginning at 4:00pm until 7:00pm and again on Friday, May 22, 2026, beginning at 1:00pm until service time at 2:00pm with burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery. Bro. Larry Reagan will officiate the service.

Kenneth was born on March 24, 1937, in Dresden, Tennessee, to the late Vivian Lovelace and Uver Drain “U.D.” Lovelace. He was an only child and grew up near Pleasant Hill Church in Dresden, Tennessee, where he attended a one-room schoolhouse as a young boy.

Kenneth developed a lifelong love for music, singing, and playing guitar. He often spoke of Irvin Blackburn, who first taught him how to play guitar chords. Over the years, Kenneth sang alongside Sterling Perry and Ray Perry, as well as his cousin, Mary Lee Walker, in a quartet that performed at church revivals and on Martin's radio station on Sunday mornings. Ray Perry's wife Brooksie Perry would play the paino for these events.

During his younger years, Kenneth also spent a short period serving in the National Guard.

Kenneth worked at several places throughout his life, including the Bay-Bee Shoe Company in Dresden, Tennessee, before eventually beginning his longtime career with Kellwood. He first worked at the Greenfield plant, where he sorted IBM cards, one of the more difficult and tedious jobs at the time. Later, Kenneth transferred to the Kellwood plant in Rutherford, Tennessee, where he eventually moved into data processing and spent much of his career before retiring in 1998 after many years of dedicated service.

On February 23, 1973, Kenneth married Mary Lou Hutcherson. Together they shared 53 years of marriage and built a life on the historic “Demonstration Farm” between Martin and Dresden along Highway 22, where they raised their son together, Kevin Lovelace, and created countless memories together.

After retirement, Kenneth and Mary Lou devoted much of their time to gardening and caring for their land. In earlier years, their large gardens overflowed with vegetables, fruits and flowers of every kind. As time passed, the rows of vegetables and fruits slowly gave way to more flowers, but Kenneth’s love for the outdoors, the land, and the beauty of home never faded.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lou Lovelace; his daughter, Pam Willis (Richard), and their children Brandy McClain (Paxton), Crystal Long, Chelsea Willis, and Michael Willis; his grandson Chad Lovelace, son of Keith Lovelace who passed May 11th 2026; his son, Kevin Lovelace (Julie), and their children Kurtis Lovelace and Kohen Lovelace; and great-grandchildren Hayleigh, Taylor, Jayden, and Jayne.

Kenneth will be remembered for his love of family, music, gardening, humor, and the quiet, steady life he built for those around him.
