Kerry Scott Killebrew age 72, of Dresden passed away March 20, 2024 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the Dresden Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 1:00 pm with burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 22 at Bowlin Funeral Home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, visitation will resume on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Dresden Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 11:30 am until service time at 1:00 pm. Kerry was born May 25, 1951 in Martin, Tennessee to the late, Eugene and Maybelle Killebrew. Kerry Killebrew proudly served the United States Army in Germany in the Vietnam
War. After being discharged, he was accepted to the University of Tennessee at
Martin, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in
1976.
After graduation, he used his business degree as loan officer at the Weakley County
Bank and a farm loan officer at Production Credit Association.
Kerry had a passion to serve his county much like his country. He decided to run for
Weakley County Executive and was fortunate to be elected to two terms spanning
from 1986 to 1994.
After his service to the county, Kerry started his promotional advertising career in
1998 with Newton Manufacturing. He loved selling items to local businesses like the
University of Tennessee at Martin and Weakley County Municipal Electric Company.
His customers were like family and always treated in that matter.
Kerry was an advocate for Lifeline Blood Service. He was one pint short of donating
22 gallons before coming ill. Kerry’s passion for service began at a young age and
never stopped. He continued his service to the Weakley County Backpack Program,
as he was known for his box breaking skills and organizational disposal. Kerry was a member of Dresden American Legion Post 94 and the Dresden Elks Lodge #2373 for over 50 years. He attended Dresden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha (Reavis) Killebrew, his sons, Scott (Jinny) Killebrew and Adam (Jennifer) Killebrew, his grandchildren, Callen (Devin) Waters, Caroline Daly Killebrew, Barrett Reed Killebrew, Anna Liv Killebrew, his Great-Granddaughter, Andi Dell Waters, his brother, Richard (Connie) Killebrew and one sister, Patty Killebrew Gilmour.
