Lance Ammons Darnell

Lance Ammons Darnell age 40 of Dresden passed away on June 14, 2022  in Martin.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, 6/21/2022 at Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 2:00 PM with burial to follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday, 6/20/2022 at Bowlin Funeral Home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and again on Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at 2:00 PM.

Lance Ammons Darnell graduated from Dresden High School in 2000 and went on to play college baseball at Mid-Continent University in Mayfield, KY.  He completed his bachelor degree at UT Martin and coached baseball at Cocke County High School in Newport, Tennessee.  Returning to Weakley County, Lance worked on the grounds crew for the Jackson Generals and later worked at Sharon Furniture and Appliance for a time.

Lance was a lover of all sports and statistics, especially baseball, He was an avid outdoorsman, hunting and fishing.  Lance would talk to anyone and was genuinely interested in learning about their lives.  He was a very passionate person.  Following the teachings of Jesus Christ, Lance felt his purpose in life was to help people wherever he went.  He was happiest helping kids with homework, coaching sports, and being Uncle Lance.  Lance's heart was always with the kids.

Lance is survived by his parents, Sam and Gail Darnell of Dresden; sister, Samantha (Brad) Ray of Ashland, WI., grandparents, Junior and Sylvia Simmons.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ammons and Bonnie Darnell.  Lance was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.
