Larry was born in Dresden, TN to Joe David Brooks and Elise Caton on December 27th , 1939. He was raised in Memphis, TN where he graduated from Central High School, lettering in football, baseball and basketball. After high school he proudly served our country in the Marine Corps.
Larry married Nancy Faye Cook on October 8th , 1962 and together they raised three children. Like all good Eagle Scouts, he valued God, our country and his family. He traveled with his family over most of the United States including trips to Yellowstone National Park and an annual trip to the Florida Keys.
Larry owned B&B Appliance Heating and Air. Later in his career he worked for and retired from the City of Memphis. During his retirement he fished daily, weather permitting, and was often joined by friends and family. He kept a vegetable garden, grew flowers, planted fruit trees and kept the birds fed. The Bluebird was his favorite. He shared much wisdom through lessons and stories from school experiences, teachers, friends and just living a great life.
