Lou Ann Cartwright, age 84 of Dresden, passed peacefully at her home on March 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 27, 1941, in Dresden, Tennessee, Lou Ann embraced life with a warmth and wit that made her presence deeply cherished by all.
A woman of profound faith, Lou Ann loved Jesus dearly, finding solace and strength in her spiritual devotion throughout her years. Her passions extended into the simple joys of life: she delighted in the quiet pleasures of reading, the familiar rhythm of Wheel of Fortune, and indulging her sweet tooth with popcorn and candies. Yet, it was in the tender exchanges with her daughter and grandchildren that her unique affection truly shone. Whenever “I love you” was spoken, Lou Ann would invariably respond with her trademark phrase, “I loved you first,” a testament to her enduring and heartfelt love.
She was a figure of humor and grace, known for her quick wit and the laughter that followed wherever she went. Her personality was a gentle blend of warmth and humor that touched everyone intimately and left a lasting imprint on their hearts.
Lou Ann is lovingly remembered by her devoted daughter, Tina Fletcher, who stood steadfastly by her side; her brother, Butch Moon; as well as her cherished grandchildren—Jeff Vaughn, Callie (Eric) Tomas, Tristin Fletcher, and Brenden Fletcher. The joy of her life extended to her great-grandchildren, Emery and Samuel Tomas, who were the light of her later years. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Moon and Bertha Castleman, whose memory she held with fond reverence.
The community of Dresden and beyond will gather to honor Lou Ann’s legacy with visitation at Bowlin Funeral Home, located at 279 W Main St, Dresden, Tennessee 38225. Visitation hours will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on April 2, 2026, and continue from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on April 3, 2026. Her funeral service will commence at 11:00 AM on April 3, 2026, at the same location. Following the service, burial will take place at Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove.
Lou Ann Cartwright’s departure marks the end of a remarkable life steeped in love, laughter, and faith. Her wit, her warmth, and the unmistakable sparkle of her presence will be profoundly missed, yet forever remembered by those who knew the richness of her heart and the depth of her devotion. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort her family and friends for generations to come.
