Marcine Jackson Cook, 87, of Martin,
Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord
on August 5, 2025. Marcine was born in
Palmersville, Tennessee, on January 8,
1938, and completed her undergraduate
studies in Palmersville. Marcine furthered her
education at Bethel University with a
bachelor’s degree in education and later
received her master’s degree at the
University of Memphis. She was a loving,
strong, comforting, selfless, and forgiving
friend and devoted mother that loved her
entire family dearly including her many
nieces, nephews and cousins. If she ever
called you a friend, you became close like
family. Marcine was a teacher to many
children with over 40 years in various
schools. Marcine, alongside her late husband Paul, faithfully served the Cumberland
Presbyterian church for over 65 years across 5 states in various capacities including
elder, CPW Convention President, several presbyterial ministry teams and wherever
called by God.
Marcine was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Clara Lopez Jackson, her
husband, Rev. Paul V Cook, and her son Terry M Cook. She is survived by her son Tim
(Cary) Cook, daughter Kayra (Larry) Bryant, and her sister Kara (Don) Linson and her
two grandsons, Cody Buchanan and Brayden Cook. The family requests that memorials
be made in her memory to Martin Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 312 Main St,
Martin, TN.
A gathering of family and friends for visitation and memory sharing will be held Friday,
August 8, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Martin Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 312
Main St, Martin, TN 38237.
Marcine’s celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the
Bowlin Funeral Home, 279 W Main St, Dresden, TN 38225. Visitation begins at 11:00
AM and celebration service follows at 12:00 Noon. A graveside service will follow at the Palmersville Cemetery.
