Maurine Campbell
Eaton
May 23, 1927 — Aug 17, 2026
Dresden
Maurine Campbell Eaton, age 99, of Dresden, Tennessee, lived a life marked by kindness, devotion, and steadfast love for her family, friends, and community. While she was always ready and willing to travel, her roots remained deeply planted in Weakley County. She was a lifelong resident of Weakley County and a faithful member of Dresden First Baptist Church. Maurine graduated from Dresden High School, where she played basketball and served as a cheerleader. She carried that same spirit of encouragement throughout her life, proudly supporting her nephews in football, basketball, and baseball. Maurine was also a dedicated and valued employee, serving for 42 years in administrative roles with United Clay Company and often said "she loved every bit of it.”
Maurine will be remembered for her spiritual strength, gracious presence, warm smile, laughter, optimism, and genuine joy for life. Throughout her life, she had a gift for making things beautiful. As Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds us, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.” Maurine had a creative mind and a discerning eye, with talents reflected in the homes, clothing, gardens, drawings, and decorations she designed and enjoyed. She saw true beauty in her surroundings and the people she met. Maurine was a devoted daughter to Thomas and Annie Campbell. Her surviving family members include her beloved sister, Aileen Campbell Edwards; nephew, Tommy Edwards, and his wife, Marilyn; great-nephews, Ryan Edwards, Michael Edwards and his wife, Gina, and their children, Sydney and Mark; and great-niece, Melissa Edwards Cate, and her son, Jonathan. She was preceded in death by many loved ones, including her parents, infant son Rodney, husband Allen Eaton, brother-in-law Charles M. Edwards, Jr., and nephew Jim Edwards.
Maurine will remain a blessing to all who knew and loved her. Despite periods of cognitive decline, her creativity, enthusiasm, welcoming demeanor, positive disposition and radiant smile endured. She appreciated humor, and her laughter will remain among the many treasured memories she leaves behind.
On behalf of the family, we express our sincere gratitude and appreciation for the exceptional care Maurine received over the past six years at Weakley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She greatly benefitted from the activities department, especially the art therapy program. Memorial contributions may be given to the address below, with checks payable to Weakley Rehabilitation and a memo indicating: In Memory of Maurine Eaton.
