Peggy Jean Smith

Peggy Jean Smith, age 88 of Dresden passed away February 6, 2019 at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital in Martin.  A celebration of life memorial service will be held on February 8, 2019 at 1:00 pm in Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on the day of the service from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm.  Tommy Moore will officiate the service.  In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or LeBonheur Children's Hospital.  Peggy Jean Smith was born July 31, 1930 to the late Richard and Vera Maness Bartholomew in Atwood, TN.  She was the widow of Mr. Howard Sherwood Smith. She was the Weakley County Circuit Court Clerk for many years.  Mrs. Smith was a member of the Dresden Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Dresden Pilot Club, American Legion Auxiliary and she served as treasurer for the Weakley County Democratic Party.  She loved being a Bridge Club member with all of her close card playing friends.  She is survived by her daughter Debbie (Ricky) Carter and her son, Tony Smith, both of Dresden. She also leaves behind her three grandchildren: Brandi (Brad) Heins of Rockwood, IL., Anthony (Dena) Carter, and Will Smith of Dresden;her five great grandchildren: Brock, Brady, and Brydon Heins, Andrew and Landon Carter.
