Robert "Bob" Ward Glomb, age 88, died Friday, November 15, 2019, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Bob was born May 12, 1931 in Chicago, IL to the late Conrad Ralph and Clema Marion (Daly) Glomb. Bob joined the Air Force and served twelve years, obtaining the rank of Tech Sergeant, before transferring to the Army to fly helicopters during the Vietnam Conflict. While in the Army, Bob received the 'Broken Wing' award for safely landing his helicopter without a tail rotor when the rotor broke off mid-flight. He served a total of 23 years combined service and retired a Chief Warrant Officer 2 (CW2). Bob obtained a bachelor degree in theology from Cal State Fullerton University and was a member of New Beginnings Church, Big Sandy TN. He enjoyed swing dancing, was a great piano player, loved golf and enjoyed his Cadillac's. He was a member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot's Association, 717th Ruthless Riders. Bob will be remembered for living life to the fullest and being a great dad!
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa (Mike) Loftis of Banning, CA; sons, Calvin (Char) Glomb of Bellevue, NE and Matt (Kathi) Glomb of Dresden, TN; nine grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Nawana Glomb; daughter, Sharon Glomb; son, William Glomb; granddaughter, Yevette Walker; great granddaughter, Jayden Glomb; sister, Gwen Watchinski; and brother, William Glomb.
