Robert Benjamin Manor, known as "Bobby" or "Bob", departed this plane of existance on August 15, 2023. Born July 15, 1950 in LaCenter, Kentucky, Bob grew up in Ballard County and remained friends with a host of folks there his entire life. Bob went on to college at Murray State University, graduatinfg with a degree in education and speech patholoigy. He worked for years as a speech pathologist wth the Union City School Districtand, after retiring from that position, continued working with the elderly and disabled at Cane Creek Rehabilitation. Bob was a Mason and member of the Christian Church. Bob met the ,.love of his life, Virginia "Ginny" Braswell, while at college and they married in 1974. Together they lived , literally next to Nowhere ( Farm) in Weakley County Tennesse. Bob enjoyed telling people his neighbors were huge jack asses, which was true; though the people who lived with the donkeys, mules, and occasional horse were dear friends, Deb and Jim Kidwell, and not jackasses at all. Bob was highly intelligent and remained curious his entire ,life. He was the everyman's polymath. Bob was a vociferous reader and consumed volumes on the Civil War, alternative medicine, was fascinated by the unknown, and was a student of the great expanse of the world religions. He was a great cook, an excellent photographer, a proficient gardner, and a "pretty good shot" with a gun. Bob loved humor, and it was rare circumstance that a conversation was had that didn't begin or end with laughter. Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert Ferguson Manor and Nora Gibson Manor;wife, Ginny;and a niece, Jasmine DeLuca Hefferman. He is survived by his sister, Carol Ann Manor DeLuca of Norwell, Massachusetts;nephew John DeLuca of Whitefield, New Hampshire;nephews Donnie Skaggs of Mt. Juliet, Tenness and Jamey Skaggs of Lexington, Kentucky; as well as a host of cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is also survived by lifelong friend Beverly Bennett Hill of Paducah, Kentucky and devoted caretaker Amy Mobley of Paducah, Kentucky. We would be remiss if we didn't mention Lucky, Bob's beloved dog who will miss him greatly, and will someday join a collection of the "finest beasts," the rest of whom which by now, have alreasdy greeted Bob on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. Bob was , loved and will be greatly missed. Arrangements will be made at a later date. In lieu of other remembrances, please donate to your local animal shelter, animal foster service, or adopt a pet that needs a home. If you choose to adopt a new family member, we are sure he would approve if you named him (or her), "Bob'.
