Samuel Wayne Bennett

Samuel Wayne Bennett, 48, of Longmeadow MA, formerly of Dresden, TN, passed away on May 8, 2012 at his residence in Longmeadow, MA.
Sam was born on May 2, 1964. He was the son of Richard L and Rebecca A Bennett, Dresden, TN and brother to Keith Bennett, Clarksville, TN.
After graduating from McKenzie High School in 1982, Sam began his college career at Murray State. He later transferred to Bethel University on a golf scholarship. While attending Bethel, Sam was named Rotary Club Athlete of the Year and went on to become the first golfer in Bethel's history to earn a spot in the NAIA National Golf Championship. In 1986 Sam received his degree in Business Administration.
As a PGA of America member, Sam became golf pro in Naples, FL during the winter months and also at Farm Neck Golf Club on Martha's Vineyard during the summer.
Sam married Colleen Doherty of Tewksbury MA in 1997, and Massachusetts became his permanent home. He continued to work in the golf industry with Cleveland Golf and later with Adams Golf, but his most cherished position was that of father to his two sons Ben and Troy, and to his daughter Elsie.
Sam left his family and a host of friends with many cherished memories to share, but he will be missed by all who knew him.
Graveside services were held Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Sunset Cemetery, Dresden, TN.
