Alta Sue Anderson Maddox formerly of Dresden, TN went to be with the Lord on January 5th, 2023. Sue passed in her home and with the comfort of her family by her side. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Bowlin Funeral Home at 2 pm. Visitation will be held Saturday January 7, 2023 at Bowlin Funeral Home from 12 noon until service time at 2:00pm with burial to follow in Sunset Cemetery. Sue was loving known as "Momma Sue" by her family. Momma Sue never met a stranger. She loved talking to her friends daily, cooking, and trying out new recipes. She lived most of her life in Weakley county before moving to Gallatin, TN to be with her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren in 2017.

Sue was born April 12, 1935 to Carl and Hassie Hall and grew up in the Green Hills Community of Weakley County and graduated from Gleason High School, Class of 1953. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Daniel Hall, her first husband; Joe Franklin Anderson, and second husband Norval Dwayne Maddox.

She graduated from Bethel College in McKenzie with a bachelor's degree in May 1956 and began working in July 1956 for the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services at the Dresden office. She worked there for 42 years making many life-long friends and enjoyed serving the citizens of Weakley County and Tennessee.

Overcoming Polio as a young child she went on to achieve many accomplishments in her life. She was awarded the states employee of the year award by Governor Blanton as well as other community service awards during her service before retiring in 1998. Along with her husband Joe Anderson they owned and operated Anderson Funeral Home in Dresden from 1964-1975.

She is survived by her son Clay (Kayla) Anderson and two grandsons JoeBlake and J'Britton Anderson all formerly of Dresden now residing in Gallatin, TN.

She is a long-standing member of Dresden First United Methodist Church. In Lieu of flowers, it was Sue's wish that donations be made in her honor to the First United Methodist Church building fund which was destroyed during the 2021 tornando.
