Troy Dee Fortune passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at the age of 50 after a great morning was spent fishing with a friend at Garrett Lake.
Troy was born July 23, 1969, in Martin, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Dresden High School, Class of 1987. He joined the United States Navy and served his country for 4 years. Troy lived a full life and entertained everyone he met with his colorful stories. His favorite ways to fill his days were with fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends.
Troy is survived by his loving wife, Dawn, his children, Landy Fortune of Martin and Tyler McPeak of Dresden. He is also survived by three brothers, Ron Mangiaracinia, Donnie (Marie) Fortune, Daniel (Angie) Fortune, one sister, Tracy (Bob) Markum, two brothers, Richard Essary, Randall Essary, three sisters, April Winstead, Teri Winstead, Dawn Winstead, and his father, Donald Joe (Glenda) Fortune. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews that he adored. He was preceded in death by his mother, Diane Winstead and beloved stepfather, Bobby Essary, and his brother, Robbie Savage.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, July 10, 2020, at 7:00 pm in the Bowlin Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends on the day of the service at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm. Following the services, the family invites everyone to attend a fellowship meal at Hodges Chapel Baptist Church.
