Vennie Vester Auvenshine

Vennie Auvenshine age 93 of Latham, TN; passed away on March 16, 2021 at home on his farm surrounded by his family.  He was born September 10, 1927 in Dresden, TN.  Vennie attended Dresden High School where he played football and basketball.  In 1945 he was called to serve his country in the Army.  Upon his return he met his wife of 70 years, Reba Nell Cashion.  He loved to tell stories of his childhood years, his time in the service and most of all his family.  His favorite time of the year was the annual Auvenshine/Wade family reunion.  Where he would always make you smile.  He is survived by his wife Reba, his son Terry, his daughters, Sherry (Ken) Williams, Paula (Ron) Gekle, and Vonda (Ron) Nave.  He had 7 grandchildren, Shannan, Josh, Shanell, Melissa, Robert, Taylor, and Cody; 5 great grandchildren.  The family will receive friends on March 18, 2021 at Bowlin Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday, March 19, 2021 from 12 noon until funeral time at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery with Military Honor Guard presentation.  Officiating pastors are Bro. Mark Abbott and Bro. Kenneth Williams.  Mr. Auvenshine's pallbearers will be; Terry Auvenshine, Ken Williams, Seldon Cashion, Richard Fhaner, Tommy Sledd, Lee Rodgers, and Tony Swift.  Our family would like to thank Avalon Hospice for the amazing care that they provided.
