Virginia Prince Perkins, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, departed this life on December 4, 2025, at the Weakley County Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in the quaint town of Sharon, Tennessee, on October 5, 1928, Virginia lived a vibrant life marked by her unwavering love for her family and her passion for music.
Throughout her life, Virginia was an indelible presence in her community, recognized for her warm heart and generous spirit. She was a proud member of Troy Order of the Eastern Star. As a devoted member of the South Fulton Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she shared her love of song with all, as she was known to delight in singing. Her affinity for music extended beyond the walls of her church; Virginia was a proud supporter of The Tennessee Singing Conventions, where she cherished the camaraderie of fellow music enthusiasts.
Virginia’s legacy is beautifully intertwined with her family. She is survived by her adoring daughter Kathy (Robert) Stover of Dresden, Tennessee, and her beloved sister Faye Corley of Alsup, Illinois. Her joyful spirit lives on through her grandchildren: Cherrie (Joe) of Williston, North Dakota, Wes (Donna) Perkins of Cottage Grove, Tennessee, and John (Amy) Perkins of McKenzie, Tennessee. Furthermore, she was blessed with a remarkable array of great-grandchildren, including Garrett Perkins, Brady Hopkins, Gavin Perkins, Trena Hopkins, Jacob Perkins, Luke Perkins, Beau Perkins, Josie Paulson, and Ryder Paulson, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Virginia’s heart was equally tethered to the cherished memories of those who have transitioned from this earthly realm. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 52 years, John Wesley Perkins, whose presence she fondly remembered throughout her life. Also enduring her loss are her parents, Alf and Nora Prince, her son John William Perkins, and her brothers Isaac Prince and James Thomas Prince.
As we gather to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman, the visitation will be held at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden, Tennessee, on December 8, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, leading to her final resting place at West Union Cemetery in Dresden, Tennessee.
Virginia Prince Perkins leaves behind not just a legacy of familial love but a mosaic of memories colored by song and warmth. We shall remember her, not only for her accomplishments, but also for her ability to bring joy to those around her with every note sung, every story shared, and every moment spent in the company of her loved ones. She will be profoundly missed yet forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew her.
