Mr. Walter Bridges Bennett, age 91 of Dresden died Tuesday evening, October 20, 2015 at Superior Care Home in Paducah, KY. Funeral services for Mr. Bennett were Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 1:00 PM at the Dresden First United Methodist Church in Dresden, TN with burial following in Sunset Cemetery in Dresden.
Mr. Bennett was born in Buchanan, TN on September 9, 1924 to the late Freeman E. and Belle Bridges Bennett. He was a partner in Bridges Milling Company, a U.S. Army medic engineer in World War II, a devoted member of the Dresden First United Methodist Church since 1951 and an active member of Gideon's International Bible distribution. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Mrs. Mary Eileen Holmes Bennett; two brothers, Brandon Bennett and Dwayne Bennett; one sister, Ollivene Smith; and one son-in-law, Ron Harber.
He is survived by his two daughters, Melanie Harber of Southaven, MS, and Beth (Ron) Beaton of Paducah, KY; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
