Walter "Sonny" Thomas Godsey, Sr.

Walter "Sonny" Thomas Godsey, Sr, age 80, died Friday, November 15th, 2019, at Methodist University Hospital, Memphis.  The family will receive friends on Monday, November 18th from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Bowlin Funeral Home.  Services will be conducted Tuesday, November 19th at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Bro Harvel Baker officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dresden.

Sonny was born July 27th, 1939 in Memphis, TN to the late Charles Erving and Vionnia Godsey.  He served four years in the US Marine Corps as a military police.  Sonny received his associates degree and was a plumber/electrician with Stanley Jones.  He was a member of Cypress Creek Baptist Church and will be remembered as a hard-working man who loved his little dogs and family.

Survivors include his wife, Gale Godsey of Dresden, TN; daughters, Deloris (Joel) Cook of Decaturville, TN, Vicky (Ronnie) Cleveland of Union City, TN, Connie Chappell of Dresden, TN, Tracey (Keith) Dunning of Martin, TN, Martha (David) Reid of Dresden, TN; sons, Walter Thomas Godsey, Jr of FL, Josh (Cynthia) Godsey of Enville, TN, Timmy Godsey of Adamsville, TN; sister, Ruby (J.T.) Wilburn of Selmer, TN; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  Sonny was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; two grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
