Wanda Marie (Rogers) Brann passed away on September 7th at the age of 95. She was born in Dresden, Tennessee on January 26,1929. At the time of her death, Wanda was residing at Mitchell Hollingsworth Long Term Care Unit in Florence, Alabama. Wanda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James William Brann, after a long and happy marriage of 67 years. Wanda had to endure the heartache of the death of her oldest daughter, Mary B Cavin, in 2021. In addition, two sons-in-law, David Shettles and Tony Caughron, passed away prior to Wanda. Wanda is survived by two daughters, Jennifer B Ellis (Elzie) of Killen, AL and Rebecca B McClure (Robert) of Obion, TN.
She was known as “Granny” to five grandchildren, Brandie Cole (Jason), Jason Shettles (Lizzie), Lindsey Mitchell (Gary), Christina Romo (Evan), and Trice Caughron (Casey). Wanda was known as “Great Granny” to nine great grandchildren, Landon, Riley, Mallory, Dale, Daniel, Charlie Beth, Aubrey, Will and Esmeralda. There is one sister-in-law, Shirley Hunter, and many adoring nieces, nephews and cousins who have survived Wanda
Bill and Wanda were members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN and she remained a member until her death. Over the course of her lifetime, Wanda was employed as a bookkeeper, as well as a salesclerk. She and her late husband, Bill, babysat other people’s infants in their home in addition to caring for their own grandchildren any time they were asked. Wanda was a successful Avon representative, using her profits to help finance college costs for at least one daughter. Besides being a great cook and homemaker, Wanda was an excellent seamstress, often lending her talents to local needs in her community. Her daughters and grandchildren enjoyed many garments produced by her talent and still cherish the numerous quilts, Afghans, rabbit dolls and other handiwork she skillfully created.
The funeral service for Wanda Brann will be held at Bowlin Funeral Home in Dresden, TN on Saturday September 14th with visitation beginning at 10:00am until service time at 11:30am. The burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Dresden TN.
The pall bearers will be Jason Shettles, Jason Cole, Landon Cole, Riley Cole, Evan Romo, Dennis Cavin, Elzie Ellis and Robert McClure.
