Wendell Gene Gatewood, a beloved figure known for his unwavering spirit and infectious laughter, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born on June 14, 1956, in Martin, Tennessee, Wendell dedicated his professional life to the HVAC industry, where he made countless friends and left a lasting impact on his community.
Wendell is remembered as a cheerful soul, always quick with a joke that could brighten any room. He truly embodied warmth and kindness, bringing joy to everyone he encountered. His love for life and laughter was unmatched, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his cherished sisters, Reba Montgomery and Diania Spaulding, along with his adoring nephews; Mitch Spaulding, Michael Spaulding, Troy Doster, and Jake Doster.
Wendell was preceded in death by his loving parents, Ralph Maynard Gatewood and Allie B. Anderson, as well as his sister Brenda Doster, who welcomed him with open arms upon his departure.
A graveside service will be held on November 6, 2025, at the Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Dresden, Tennessee, beginning at 11:00 AM. Bro. David Freeman will officiate the service, where family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Wendell's remarkable life. Please note that there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
