William Scott Hewett

William Scott Hewett, 72 of Dresden, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 2 pm at Southside Church of Christ in Dresden with Will Norrid officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday at the church from 11 am until service time at 2 pm. Scott was born in Memphis on February 7, 1953 to the late James Everett Hewett and Nettijene Williams. Scott was the longtime high school football coach of the Dresden Lions, as well as an educator and assistant principal. He was a member of the Lebanon Church of Christ. He is survived by his wife Angie Westbrook Hewett, son Matt (Brooke) Hewett, daughter Jamie (Samuel) Smith, mother Nettijene Williams Hewett, brothers Jim and Lee Hewett, sister Carolyn Scott, grandchildren Blakley, Hollyn and Wyatt Smith, and Rhett and Wilkes Hewett, nieces Abbey Stoker Harrison, and Cortlyn Westbrook, nephew Blake Stoker, great niece Olivia Westbrook, and great nephews Jaxxon and Grayson Collins. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother Mike Hewett. The family has asked that in lieu of flowers and gifts, donations be made directly to the Dresden High School football team in his memory.
