Service Charges Overview
We are happy to provide a complete breakdown of our professional service charges for transparency.
To help you better understand the costs associated with funeral services, we’ve prepared a detailed outline of the categories that make up the total funeral bill. Essentially, there are four main components: casket and merchandise selections, professional service charges, cash disbursements, and applicable taxes.
By law, funeral homes are required to provide an itemized price list of all professional service charges as well as the costs for caskets and merchandise. This list must be available to consumers at no cost or obligation upon request.
At Bowlin Funeral Home, we are proud to offer some of the most competitive prices in the area, even though many may expect higher charges due to our level of professionalism, the quality of our facilities, and our commitment to ethical standards. We believe that consumers should be able to compare services and realize that loyalty to a traditional funeral home isn’t the only option. Our goal is to show that exceptional service doesn’t have to come with an inflated price tag. We hope that this transparency in pricing will encourage you to consider Bowlin Funeral Home, Inc. when you are seeking a provider that offers high standards of service and facilities at sensible, affordable prices.
Casket & Merchandise Selections
This section covers the cost of the casket selected by the family. Each casket and item is priced separately, meaning the listed price for the casket only covers the casket itself, without including any other merchandise. This can sometimes be confusing, so we ensure that all items are clearly itemized. Other items that might appear in this section include burial vaults, cremation urns, and upgraded stationery packages. All are itemized based on your specific selection. You are also welcome to purchase any of these items from another source, and there will be no additional handling or administration fees if you choose to buy elsewhere.
Cash Disbursements

Cash disbursements refer to third-party expenses that we pay on behalf of families as a convenience, to be settled later once the estate is understood. These items are charged at cost—no markups are applied. Common cash disbursements may include:
- Newspaper notices
- Clergy honorariums
- Cemetery charges
- Tennessee cremation certificates
- Grave opening and closing fees
- Hairdresser fees
- Sales tax
